RE: Is This Possible?

Now tell the rest of the story. Are you running the generator while doing this test? You just said you replaced the fuel line to the generator, you did not say you were running the genset while going down the road and hence your MPG went down. If you are not running the genset, there is no way that would have anything to do with a loss of MPG unless there is a leak in your new line. More facts needed

RE: What is the advantage ?

The advantage as I see it is that this turns a 15 amp duplex outlet into a single 30 amp outlet and you can plug your 30 amp shore power cord directly into the generator. So in essence, this becomes your 30 amp to 15 amp adapter. You can still only use 1000 watts of power which is the max generator output. If you already have a 30 amp to 15 amp adapter I can't see any advantage of buying this one except that you will then have two adapters. If you use this the cord will probably stay in better than one that is hanging down with the regular 30 Amp to 15 Amp adapter. That's the way I see it, maybe others will see it differently.

RE: Defogging my Newmar (P30)

I beleive the fact that your dash AC does not work added to the problem. What is wrong with the AC? Maybe just needs a charge. A lot of people never use their dash air and then when it comes to the time you need it, they find it doesn't work. And also a lot of people are not aware that the AC is a functional part of the defrost system. I would have the AC at least looked at to see if it can be fixed.

RE: CA 49 S from Placerville CA to 88 then 88 W to 99

Hwy 49 from Placerville to Plymouth is prohibited for MH 40 and longer. Can you do it with something shorter? Well yes but this section of 49 does have some tight turns in this section. From Plymouth to Hwy 88, Hwy 49 is OK. There is a new bypass section of 49 that bypasses Amador city and Sutter Creek and then comes out near Sutter Hill, just before Hwy 88. You can still take the old part of Hwy 49 that goes through Amador City and Sutter Creek although it gets a little narrow going through downtown Sutter Creek. Hwy 88 from 49 down to Hwy 99 will present no problem with a MH. If you want to click on the CAL TRANS web site in the above post, after it comes up, click on #3 on the map and then #10 to see the rest of Hwy 49

RE: Electric Company Discriminates Against Full-time RVer

From your post it appears that you put your 5er on site and got a permit to build and they installed a temporary electrical. So maybe the electrical department is billing you as a contractor and is waiting for you to finish the building of a permanent residence. Do you ever plan on building a permanent residence or are you done building and will make your 5er your permanent residence. It probably all boils down to what is on the permit so a trip to the Building department could probably straighten it all out. Some jurisdictions do not allow a RV to become a permanent residence. DOes your jurisdiction allow such? To many varibles involved here for anyone to give you much help. Good luck

RE: Southwind Spare Tire

While on this topic, is having a spare tire only available on a Fleetwood product? What size tire and what size WH chassis are these spares available on? I had no idea anyone was carrying a spare on a WH chassis. I'd sure like to have one. Sorry for the interuption. Pat Yes mine is a fleetwood product on a workhorse chassis. Fleetwood made the access panel in the rear so I assume that it is their idea, not workhorse'e idea. I have a spare, but I cannot verify if other manufactures have a spare.

RE: Carbon Monoxide Detector Status

That was my thought, are you sure it doesn't have a 9 Volt battery in it also? Or another thought, could it be the battery operated smoke detector that is beeping because of a low battery?

RE: House Fan Mystery

If the thermostat switch is in the OFF position then you probably have a bad thermostat. Have you tried moving the switch up and down to all of the other positions? As I recall it has a LOW FAN ONLY and a HIGH FAN ONLY position. Try both of these positions and see if the fan speed changes. And if you have a 30 amp shore power connection or you can run the generator, then try the HIGH COOL and then the LOW COOL position. Then maybe the AUTO COOL position. Sometimes just by exercising the switch up and down cleans the up. Don't try to run the COOL part if you are only hooked up to a 15 amp shore power. Worth a try

RE: Southwind Spare Tire

Is yours on a workhorse chassis? The fact that you can see the spare makes me beleive it is a Workhorse. I don't know about the ford Chassis but on the workhorse chassis, there is a panel that the rear licence plate is mounted to. you have to get under neath the back of the motor home and remove 4 bolts, two on each side, that holds the panel in place. I think they take a 9/16 wrench. My owners manual suggests that you put some duct tape on the panel across the crack where it fits into the body to keep it in place while you remove the bolts so it won't fall on the ground. Or have someone hold it in place while you remove the bolts. Then you have to remove one bolt that holds the spare tire in place and just slide it out. Two people are recommended as you slide it out as it is heavy.

RE: ABS Light Stays ON

Glad you got it fixed, but just as an afterthought, it would not hurt to take the sensors out and clean them once a year as a preventive maintenance job. It is really not that hard of a job when the weather is nice and you have a good smooth flat surface to slide around under the rig. It prevents a lot of problems later on. Thanks for posting the solution to yor problem. So many posters never do reply when they have found the problem and you wonder if they ever found a solution. Thanks again.

RE: Omnidirectional antenna for digital TV?

Thank you Gdetrailer for that info about which end of the antenna receives the best signal. Now I know I can at least point the Arrow of the RV Antenna to the compass direction that the web site tells me for a quick search and then "Fine tune" using the "Signal Strength" meter. I have cable in my stick house, but just for fun I hooked up an old antenna I have mounted to the chimmney, pointed to the TV broascast towers about 30 miles away, and to my HD TV and let the TV do a search and I received a lot of digital channels, some in HD, with as good a picture as my cable. A good option in case the cable ever goes out. I get ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, and a lot of independants over the air. Haven't tried digital in the MH yet as I haven't installed my new HDTV yet. Maybe next week. Thanks again.

RE: What's with my tv?

Woa, this is getting hot and heavy. Does the person who gets in the last word/post win? Maybe it is time to close this post.

RE: Omnidirectional antenna for digital TV?

Try this web sight. When it comes up all you have to do is put you zip code in and submit. And then click on your street to get a more accurate location. then submit and it will tell you where the TV towers are located and what digital stations you will receive and what class antenna you should use. SO point your antenna in the direction they tell you and if you are not too far away you should get a signal. Let the TV do a "Channel search" and it should lock in all the digital stations. The problem about the Bat wing antenna is I don't know which end or side it gets its signal from. Maybe some one else will know. So here is the web site. Antenna location I guess you can also enter your address but I just entered my ZIP. Didn't want to give them to much info. Then when yougo camping, bring up the web site again if you have internet service, and enter the zip code of the Campground you are at and find if there are any stations in the area.

RE: House Fan Mystery

When you say the rear fan is ON, do you mean the rear Air conditioner fan? If so the switch for the fan is on the thermostat for the rear Air conditioner. On my 2004 Southwind both thermostats are on the wall near the bathroom door. One of the switch positions is "Fan" only on each thermostat. Make sure that both thermostats are in the OFF position. One thermostat has the "Heat" position, I think it is the front one and the rear thermostat does not have a "Heat" position. Good Luck.

Thanks for the link to Acedemy.com but I still can't find any "marine" Dept or any LED lights on a search of the site. Oh well

Care to give us a web site? I am not aware of "Academy" and a google search gives me too many hits because I don't know "Academy"

RE: Avi KOA

They probably charged you the daily rate and when you arrived they would adjust the rest of the weekly charges accordingly to reach the $109.00 weekly rate. So since you already paid $24.99 you would only owe $84.01 for one week. Most RV parks want you to pay in full when you make a one week reservation and charge you a one day cancellation fee if you cancel. Do you know for sure that they were not going to adjust the rate after you showed up? Just a thought.

RE: Water Heater Off or On

No problem leaving it on electric. Like others have said if the RV park charges extra for electricty, you might want to calculate whether you want to pay for the electricty the water heater uses. One other thing to consider is the total amperage you are using at the time, for instance if you have the AC running, have the water heater on electric, have the refridgerator on electric, the Convertor is also working on 110, and you want to use the Microwave all on a 30 amp service, you could be overdrawing. In that case you might have to turn one or more of these items off, probably the water heater. Just as a note, I have 30 amp service and my 2004 Southwind has a "switch" that will not allow me to run the water heater on electric and the microwave at the same time. You can switch on one or the other but never both. Also not all water heaters have a "Anode rod" but if they do the electric element has nothing to do with the life time of the Anode rod.

RE: Are my TVs really passing the DTV conversion test?

If you are not getting your signal directly from an "external over the air" Antenna, that test is absolutly useless to you. The Digital test that they are doing is only going out over the "AIR" and if you are hooked up to a "cable" or "Satalite" system, you should see no difference. So the question is; Are you hooked up to a external antenna? if not the test means "NOTHING"
